"Singapore Layover, hotel offered by SinAir?"

So I've decided to book SFO to MNL and have a layover in SIN for 16Hrs. With this type of layover, does SinAir offer any type of hotel stay? I would want to stay near OT or Brix to get some action for the night. Anyone flew this recently?

Never heard of a free night hotel offered with the layover. They do offer free tour on their own tour buses.

As for the other part, there are several hotels that are nice and in the area.
Orchard (right next door to OT)
Hilton (across the street from OT)
Hyatt (Brix is in the basement)
Royal Plaza (across the street from Hyatt)
Marriott (2 doors down from Hyatt)
There are several other hotels in immediate vicinity.

UPDATE: They do offer layover hotels, but not right at the intersection. http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_UK/content/local/US/promotions/2_Nights_Free.jsp
Both hotels offered are near the Esplanade or Raffles city complex and you're going to cab it to either Orchard or Geylang.
(looks as though you have to originate the flight in LAX and not SFO--don't know if the cost of changing ticket and flight to LA is worth it as I'm sure you can probably get a hotel for less than the redirect costs and effort)

Although hotel prices have gone up somewhat considerably in the past two years (probably a combo of exchange rate and increase of priceline rates), you might bid a decent rate or use latestays.com

(Latestays shows the Copthorne-Orchid at $112 USD)
Bidding for Travel shows some decent prices at Marriott and the Holiday Inn-Atrium (which is not to be confused with the HI in Orchard area, but a decent spot).

If it were me, I'd bid 4* in Orchard area and see what you get or just try to book the Orchard. That said, I really like the Marriott.

wow... the hotel prices are outrages! besides the Copthorne-Orchid, is there any other suggestions? Want to only spend around 100/night, less the better if I can get a way with it.

If you would come out the front entrance of the Hyatt, turn right and walk past the Far East Plaza (shopping center)...beyond that is a path to the right that takes you up a hill (I believe Mt. Elizabeth). There are a few hotels up on that hill, like the Elizabeth Hotel (24 Mount Elizabeth) that are cheaper, though I haven't checked the prices lately. It takes longer by taxi to go down back streets than it does to walk 5 min down the hill to put you at Scotts and Orchard Rds.

You might also check for deals on Asiarooms.com

If you're looking at a bill per night, I'd do the following...
• Just book the Copthorne, the York or the Elizabeth (pretty nice).
• Strongly consider booking at the Holiday Inn-Atrium. You should be able to get a PL bid there for about US$80 or so (depending upon events). You aren't on Orchard, but cabs are clean, honest and cheap!!!
• If you have Starwood, consider the points and miles option on the Sheraton. (While Le Meridian is closer and I don't think the St Regis is open, these are higher category.)
• Consider a boutique like the "M".
• Or go with a hotel 81, which is cross btwn Best Western and Motel 6, down in Geylang.

A lot will depend on when you book. Prices are quite high now because of Lion Dance Championships and the upcoming Singapore Gran Prix (Formula 1).

Plan accordingly.

PS: Further research you may consider to see if there is a hidden gem. In the past, there was a service apartment above and behind Scott Plaza which is conveniently located between the Marriott and the Hyatt. This was an Ascott Service Apartment, but they've bought a new property and I've tried but can't find out any information about what remains in its place. The address is No. 6 Scott Rd. and it used to be a very nice property with both mall and private entrance. I don't know if it's gone private (condo/apt), under new ownership or if being renovated.

Depending on your flight times, you might want to check out the transit hotel at Changi - www.athmg.com

Just take the SMRT into the city to have a your fun.

Thanks! I actually saw that but wanted an overnight company. so staying near the action is preferrable.
