"Street Fighting, Ever Got Into One???"

LAST EDITED ON 05-May-08 AT 02:58 PM (PST)

Anyone ever got into a street fight? I haven't fought on the streets for years and got into one last night. Some idiot middle age guy honked at me while he was speeding in a parking lot while I was pushing a cart of groceries.

I had to push my cart back in a hurry and then I stuck my middle finger out at him. That idiot got out of his car and yelled at me: "Flip me off again, c-h-i-n-k! I'll beat your chinaman ass!" So I flipped him off again and said: "fuck you redneck fag!" Then he walked towards me with his fist up about to throw a punch. I faked a jab, then side kicked his knee so hard, it bent backward. I probably broke his knee cap. Right when he took a step backward, I put him in the muay thai clinch and knee the fuck out of his head and body, Anderson Silva style.

Luckily no cops was around. People are stupid, trying to speed in a parking lot and honked at whoever that's in their way. I ain't taking that shit.

Couldn't have said it better, E4US. Why someone feels the need to brag about assaulting a stranger because he heard a car horn is beyond me. As he said, luckily there were no cops around; otherwise, he would have spend the night finding out his street fighting skills don't work so well in a holding cell full of guys named Bubba.

Sadly, as a Cal student found out the other day, you also never know when the other guy will be carrying a knife.

Can you fit a "cart of groceries" in an 800 hundred horsepower Supra?

I'll pass on the street fights. I prefer not to risk getting hep C or aids from a guy driving in a parking lot.

Yep, but only when there was no viable option and I felt threatened. I have always ended up "winning" but there are really no winners in a street fight. The smarter thing is to walk away.

I witnessed one that turned out bad, a guy takes 3 good shots to the head, you could see his face change after the 3rd hit, he was out, fell over backwards and hit his head on the curb, severe brain damage. I swore off fighting after watching that. A lot of guys who get into fights have had the shit beaten out of them many times and they don't learn, so punching them out again isn't going to educate them.

Sweep the knee? I like leg kicks, elbows, punch combos, single-leg takedown and work for a rear naked choke.

Ever grappled on dirty concrete in street clothes?

I would never want to do it more than once in my life. It has a way of making winners into losers.

If that's your last option, then you must be well prepared for it. Besides, grappling on dirty concrete is the last thing I'm worried about in a street fight. I'm very confident in my wrestling and submission game. I love to be control on top position, ground and pound somebody's face to a bloody pulp with elbows. It's also fun to be in side control too and knee the shit out of someone's body, just like what Georges St. Pierre did to Matt Serra.

But of course, first option is always leg kick, leg kick, leg kick. Jab, cross, hook, leg kick, uppercut, high roundhouse kick to the jaw. Then try to finish it off with clinch and knees. That's what muay thai kickboxing is for, the best stand up style for street fights and ring fights.

Sorry, dude, your lingo smacks too much of post-modernist MMA revisionism.

IOW, more cagefighter fantasy than streetfighting reality.

There's nothing fantasy about realistic and effectiveness.

No offense, but I don't think you know much about fighting, hand-to-hand combat, what works in the street and ring, and what doesn't work.

About 10 years ago. It was in the early stages of violent posturing and threats, not a knock down, drag out swingfest. I wasn't even thinking as I did some sloppy version of some joint immobilization moves I learned in the past, took the guy to the ground with only slight scrapes and bruises and apparently a very devastated ego. He was surprised as he didn't expect me to act first, since he was in the process of targeting my buddy. He went to the bathroom or something, and we left while we had the chance.

I know guys who get drunk and get into fights a few times a year. Many but not most are martial artists. They are ALL losers.

Here's one of those life axioms -- guys who regularly get into fights are the same guys who regularly look for fights, even if they don't start them.

And on top of all that, there's the cops. Who needs THAT.

How did he know you were Chinese? How did he know your ethnicity? No white guy cares enough about Asian men to learn the difference. Asian women, yes. Asian men? Who cares!

>Luckily no cops was around.

However, most grocery stores do have video cameras in their parking lots. The big question is will you shop there again, or pussy out and go to different store.

There is not a person alive regardless of his training or weight lifting who isn't capable of having his ass kicked and or being killed. A gun generally trumps any martial arts training or weightlifting and it doesn't require a lot of training to master. I have a friend who, honestly, isn't the brightest bulb in the marquee. He was crappy at athletics so he started lifting weights to try to compensate for his lack of coordination, athletic ability and brains. His favorite thing to do was to try to start shit with people after he got all buffed out from weight lifting. One evening he started some shit with a bouncer at some nightclub to try to prove something and prove something he did. He managed to beat the bouncer up pretty good before the bouncer's buddys got involved and frog stomped the shit out of him. For some reason after that his need to assert himself diminished.

Would you have done the same thing if it were young Latino or Black males, who most likely be packing some heat?

We just read too often how parking lot arguments escalate into a shooting match, all because someone disses the other and what follows is the back and forth of one-upping the other leads to a fatality. Sadder still is the fact that innocent bystanders become victimized.

Being wise to the street and possible ugly outcomes will cause a person to back down more often than not - unless they've got nothing going on in their life where the ultimate penalty wouldn't make a difference anyway.

Do you actually believe most young black and latino males a carrying a gun?
MAYBE if you combine them with a very, very rough part of town, but come on, most black and latino males are not carrying a gun.
