"Car DVD/CD player question???"

Is it normal for a music CD to come out of the player after about an hour almost too hot to touch??? I just got this DVD/CD player about 6 months ago so it's still under a full replacement warranty... Do I just need to go back for a replacement???

   Not normal.

Play CD before going back to store so they can feel the heat.

If they say it is normal, immediately ask to see the General Manager.

I dunno, cheaper units can create a LOT of heat, esp single DIN units which have a serious lack of heat dissipation allowable to them.

"too hot" will require a number, not just too hot to touch.

If the head unit is a "high power" amp as well, then ya..theres as much as 200w of energy being used WITHIN this small device..a 200W lightbulb's worth of heat.

Where's it going? Even a large double-din unit used as a player/receiver/amplifier can get quite hot internally unless it has a built in fan plus large external heat sinks. The Alpines for example, have these characteristics.
