A high ratings score simply means recognition by peers for some or all of the following:

* Knowledge
* A sense of humor
* Having something interesting to say
* Willingness to help educate the newbies
* A generally positive attitude

I guess it's easier for you to think I'm busy sucking dicks than to try to figure out why you and your alter ego parkton get so little respect from your peers on this board. I guess it's also easier to exclude yourself from the ratings than to have to look at a page full of red marks. I've turned off my ratings three times with this handle to delete five ratings. All five were positive ratings. Why do I even bother leaving the ratings enabled? Dude, you crack me up. Telling everyone I gave Parkton a positive rating is exactly the same as telling everyone that you ARE Parkton. There's really no other reason why you would be checking another RBer's profile to see who gave him positive ratings, and even less reason to take offense with a positive rating.

By the way, some of us occasionally post positive ratings to allow us to embed some very negative comments. As you probably know, negative or neutral ratings don't allow the rater to attach a comment. Unfortunately, less-than-positive comments aren't always displayed on other member's walls, even though they show on the rater's view. Evidently, you were unable to see the text of my positive rating, which was simply a request to stop inboxing me with links to kiddie porn sites. Maybe you and your imaginary friend like that stuff, but I find it pretty offensive.

Anyway, thanks for listing all of your rationalizations for why you won't participate in the ratings. It must be pretty sad having to turn off the ratings feature because you live in mortal fear of being criticized by others. It's obvious that had a pretty tough childhood. I used to leave them off all the time. I got tired of arguing with ratings queens like you telling me how much of a "coward" I am for leaving them off. By the way, did you know that at least two of the senior RB moderators leave their ratings off for reasons that mirror mine? One of them has been quite vocal about what a joke the system is. Now maybe you can understand exactly why I said "Enjoy your new rating." I was surprised when he decided to give me a positive rating. Eventually, I remembered that some rating comments show up on the page of the rater, but not for general viewing to the RB public.

Since you seem to have a problem with my integrity, the easiest thing for me to do is give Parkton a negative rating and allow him to return the favor. Unlike you, I do not have nightmares about negative ratings. While I take some pride in being recognized by peers, I also accept that not everyone shares my views.
