"LED TV. Wow."

I found myself in the market for a new television for the first time in 5-6 years. Started doing some research and sampling and decided on a Sharp Qattron (my first ever non-Sony) and omg, the quality jump is comparable to the jump from standard to HD.

All 1080p sets are not created equally.

...and that's, one to grow on.

The LG 240hz LED/LCD is rated the best T.V in any class by Consumer affairs and my Brother has one and it's the clearest T.V I have ever seen.

I know that these places carry the same inventory, all over the bay area, that is?

If you got the balls buy one at Costco and on the 89th day take it back for a full refund no questions asked.

Then buy another and so on and so forth...

Most of the brands at Costco are quality brands with fair-to-excellent ratings - in no particular order, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sharp, Vizio.

In the past, I've seen some LG models, but not recently.

The first four are considered top-tier manufacturers, as is LG.

Sharp and Vizio are generally considered to be a bit lower, but still good quality.

fyi - the LDxxx series from LG use CFL for backlight. the LExxxx series use LED backlighting. The link above is the LD650.

That said, ymmv on picture quality with either backlight if they are both edge lit.

I think I no longer worship at the Sony TV altar myself.
Are the colors realistic?
Some guy I know who has an audio video installation business claims the colors are a bit off.
I'm not agreeing with him I'm just inquiring.
I am still dining out on my Sony LCD HDTV circa 2007.
It still looks really good, so I am going to milk it as long as I can.

I've never noticed anything wrong with Sony's colors; even side-by-side next to other brands at Costco and Fry's, Sony screens look fine to me.

Some of the high-end Sony LED TVs use discrete triluminous RGB LEDs, as opposed to white LEDs, for the back-lighting. I've never seen one, but supposedly this increases the contrast even more so than on normal LED backlit screens.

All tv's colors are "off" when using the factory settings. That's why ya get your tv calibrated by professionals, or buy a good calibration disc and do it yourself.

I remember seeing one at Best Buy. Instead of just RGB pixels, Sharp added yellow so the color jumps out at you.
