"I need help loading a program onto my computer. . ."

I have been trying to install Yahoo Messenger on my computer yet I always get an error message saying, "The firewall setting are avoiding the program from being installed." I did have Yahoo Messenger in the past but am not sure if because I install a program or if I did something unknowingly to cause this problem.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You can temporarily turn off your firewall so that your pc will allow you to install the program. It just depends if it's a Windows Firewall or perhaps an Anti Virus firewall that is turned on. If it's a Windows Firewall you can go into Control Panel and you will see windows firewall listed there, simply go into that and turn it off, then install Yahoo Messenger and reboot, when it starts up again windows will turn the firewall back on. If you see that your windows firewall is already turned off, then it's probably your anti virus that has the firewall turned on. Depending on which A/V you have you basically go in there and do the same thing. I am running Trend on mine so for Trend you just go to Trend Internet Security program, click on the personal firewall controls tab and then switch it to off. Same thing, install yahoo messenger and reboot and you should be good to go. If you are running McAfee or Norton or another brand it will basically be the same thing, I just can't walk you exactly through the steps, you might just try googling it if you have another brand. Good Luck!
