"Favorite Airport"

What is your favorite airport (domestic or international)? Factor in ease of getting in/out, security, etc. San Antonio sucks, McCarron in Vegas ain't bad...

My favorite "Airport" was the first one. I think Dean Martin was in it.

Domestic:
Probably Orange County for the regionals. McCarran isn't bad but it isn't designed for TSA and Homeland security. Eugene, OR is OK too.
As for the major hubs, DIA isn't too bad now that they've worked out the bugs but the new terminal at Detroit is pretty spectacular and reminds me of some of the major airports in Asia. The rest of the airport sucks but that is another story.

International:
Asia
Regional: Koh Samui, Thailand http://www.airport-technology.com/projects/koh-samui/koh-samui1.html
Hubs: Changi Int'l (Singapore) is awesome but most of the majors are pretty good (Narita, Inchon, new Hong Kong airport). IMO, the new BKK is disappointing.

EU
I liked Munich airport (lukewarm on Frankfort)
London Heathrow sucks
I've heard good things about Dubai's airport but haven't been.

But SFO isn't so bad either.

For Domestic:

Atlanta & Denver are the best I have been to. SFO is the worst.

Atlanta is often cited as travelers' least favorite.

Small-town airports are the best, like Monterey or Van Nuys.

For big airports, I like Orlando. Or at least I did when Clear VIP was still in service.

   It depends on.............

1) Departing airport
2) Arrival airport
3) Connecting Airport
4) Stranded airport

Small airports are fine for flying in and out, but sucks if you are stranded. There is usually nothing to do, nowhere to go, and the delays can be extended. A flight was once delayed for 6 hours at Burbank because they had to send someone to LAX to pick up a malfunctioning part. This would have been a 30 minute delay at most major airports. I ended up just taking a cab to LAX and flying on a different flight. And flight options are obviously limited at smaller airports.

O'Hare is probably the worst airport I've experienced. Security lines are always long (even for first class), gates are way too far apart, and flights are always delayed which causes overcrowding at the airline lounges.

SFO sucks to fly into 'cause you have to walk miles and miles then get on a tram to get to the rental car.

Dallas-International is a good airport to fly out of. Lots of terminals so the security lines are always quick and walking is limited. The tram inside the terminal is fast and quick.

Denver, Atlanta and especially Dallas, to name a few referenced are aweful. Las Vegas isn't much better, especially waiting forever for ground transportation.

The best 2 in the country considering relative size and every aspect of travel convenience, speed, services and cleanliness are Orange Country (John Wayne) and Tampa Intl.

For big airports, SFO is much better than most.

I think as people become more familiar with an airport, they tend to see the more positive aspects of that particular airport.

I hate SFO. Security lines always suck. Rental car area is middle of nowhere.

I fly from and through DFW twice a week. I love the flight availability on American. I can pretty much get anywhere in 3-4 hours on direct flights. If I need to change flights, no problem; there are plenty of flight choices.

Since DFW has 5 terminals and each terminal has 3 security areas, I can whip through security is under 5 minutes 95% of the time. There is also a AA Lounge at every terminal except for E. Decent restaurants at most terminals; Terminal D has great restaurants all over.

Valet parking service kicks ass!!!

I've been unlucky with some of the smaller airports the past few months. Most delays are smaller airports last hours or they'll just cancel the flight.

I did a lot of travel, domestic and international, out of sacramento, and believe it or not, i loved it. Sure i had to change planes somewhere else, but getting to and from the airport, before and after were fantastic. Once inside the airline grasp and had my luggage checked in it didn't matter what airport i was at.

Worst ever ... o-hare ... logged more time in that airport stuck in snow storms than i care to remember

what, me worry?

Flying into Prestwick-Glasgow or Dublin is always interesting because the plane comes in almost sideways.
"Hey, I can see both sides of the runway!"
Never been to Hong Kong, but I want that pilot at 1:30 minutes.
