"Do you think Joe Torre regrets not taking that 1 year contract"

   with the Yankees?

I always felt he was overrated as a manager with the Yankees. I thought that more than once he blew vital playoff games by inserting bum, nervous-in-New-York pitchers into a late, tied contest. I wonder if he believed his own hype too much when he turned down that contract and walked?

Not sure I would say he is over rated just because this years Dodger team is so bad.He has proven his skills as a manager over a long period although his best years were certainly with the Yankees. I think his ego was hurt more then anything with the Yankees offer to him before he left.If he is smart he would leave the Dodgers now and enjoy retirement.

He's a great manager and as much as I hate the Dodgers you can't fault him for this year.

I'm not at all sold on Torre as an elite manager. With the money spent on talent the Yankees should win a world title every 4 years regardless of who's managing. They had a change at manager and it didn't make a lick of difference (better or worse). Until MLB gets their heads out of their collective asses and puts a cap in place like every other professional sport, the Yankees will win with Girardi, or Mattingly or a committee of Girl Scouts on the top step of the dugout.

...and that's, one to grow on.
