Zito is now right where he always is this time of year. 8-11 with a 4+ ERA yet no hatred this year. was it the good start or are we just used to it?

It was a great start and I felt all along too good to be true.He is pitching more like I thought he would now. It's a shame but the guy is a 500 pitcher at best anymore, and he is struggling trying to be there. The A's were so smart letting him go when they did. This has to be one of the Giants biggest mistakes ever that I can remember.

The Giants should go to a 4 man rotation after next week. And make Zito the odd man out.

The Giants waited all season for san Diego to hit a cold streak. They do losing 8 in a row and the Giants respond by only winning
3 of 8 during that stretch. For all the talk of team chemistry and such this team has UNDERachieved this year.

It's really very simple. The pitching, with the exception of Wilson, has been way overrated. And we have a patchwork lineup. Can you imagine where they'd be without Huff, Bummy and Posey. I can; battling the Snakes for last place.

Lincecum & Sandoval have both underachieved. But for the rest of the team I'm not so sure. Guys like Burrell & Uribe are career .250 hitters, that we want to see hit .300. Last years team might have overachieved and gave everyone false hope.

There's still a month to play.

Just watched my first full Giants game all year. I picked a good one. Wow....what a great game....and against the Dodgers to boot.

TAKE THAT YOU DODGER FUCKING BASTARDS.

Posey hits a monster to make it 4-1. Renteria a down the line shot to make it 4-2. Burrell your everyday looking homerun to make it 4-3 then Uribe a laser to make it 5-4. Wilson throwa a heart attack 9th but survives and the Giants survive another day in the race.

Sanchez seems to be every other start good and bad. last one was good so keep fingers crossed.

I like that. What a game. Nothing like a kick to the groin to those FUCKING DODGER BASTARDS. The G Men needed this game! The Padres can keep losing, But it means nothing if they don't win. Keep winning to put more pressure on the Padres.

BTW....that kid stole a base easily when everyone knew he was going to go....and against a lefty. When he gets here to stay hopefully Bochy will be managing the Orion Whales and a real manager will allow him to develope without benching him 3 days everytime he takes an oh-fer.

The thing that pissed me off the most about tonight's game, why in the hell would Bochy start Rowand and worse yet make him the lead-off hitter? I mean just because Rowand makes millions of dollars doesn't mean he needs to play in a game. He hasn't proven to be a good hitter since he has been with the Giants. If he is lucky he will get a hit but never with a runner in scoring position. I'm sure even Buster Posey would have been a better choice as a lead-off hitter.

Ah, it was nice to take one for a change. In the larger picture, hope this gets them to loosen up and relax a bit, not press so much. There have been a lot of heroes on this team so far, lots of different guys can step up at different times. Was amazing to get production from Renteria (I should have that checked), and terrific to be reminded of Uribe's clutchiness. Wilson has to make it interesting, but screw it, they finished it. The Dodger ninth futility made up for Posey's pop out with a runner on third and one out, which I was cursing throughout the game, especially when it was 4-3.

Regarding Rowand, his history had been very good against Lilly, and judging from how hard he hit him in the first couple of at bats, that wasn't such a bad choice. Ethier (hi Billy Beane, you Brad Pitt genius you) made a couple of great catches on long drives. Bastard.

Just like the Rockies games before us, let's not worry about the first one (although I agree Zito picked a bad year to switch things up and become a dud in the second half), and take the series. If the Gs can do that, but the Pads, Phils, or Braves start sweeping, well, hats off to them.

I'm not going to cry wolf, yell fire, or say that the Padres losing all these games in a row is a "total collapse," but boy howdy they are doing their absolute best to stick their chins out at us and say, "Go on, dare you."

Fuckin' hit 'em.

I dont like seeing Rowand in there either
but he had good numbers vs Lily, and Torres
has been struggling at the plate a bit.
As far as Ford goes great wheels yes, but his rap
has been hitting major league pitching, I dont see him
as anything but a spot outfielder and pinch runner.
Great win, need tonight..
GO GMEN!!!

The Padres are toast. besides that little prick Eekstein, they have no veteran leadership. And their starting pitching has never thrown this many innings before.

You could be 100% correct about Ford but we will never know unless whoever the manager is gives him an extended stretch to succeed or fail. This crap of taking a youngster and sitting him every time he has a bad game has got to go. You never get to find out if a guy can play or not. That hurt the Giants in recent years past when they would annoint young guys as starters in January having no idea if they could play or not. It was really frustrating when they'd be 15 or 20 games under .500 in August and Bochy would be throwing out a lineup that averaged 35 years old while Ortman, Sandoval, Sherholz, Lewis, and Bowker would sit. It was that strategy that had us annoint Emmanuel Burris a starter only to find out he couldn't hit a lick.

Sherholz and Bowker, are not everyday starters.
I understand your point, do you sit Burrel, Gullien?
I love Ross hope they re sign him..
Also Ford has been in the minors for a reason, its all about scouting
I think he is 26 maybe? Lewis has the skill set, but we only caught glimpses of his talent.
Also right now they are in a pennant drive, with a boat load
of outfeilders, Im sure he'll get a look next spring.
GO GMEN!!!

Ford has been brought up to pinch run. That is it! This is not the time to put one into the fire to see how he performs.

I didn't say this was the time. I clearly stated "when the time comes..........".

They eventully showed they weren't good enough but that could have ben done much earlier.

Lewis is a #4 outfielder. In a hitters park he is hitting .262,
8 HRs and 36 rbi in 412 at bats. However, without ever seeing him play a long stretch uninterrupted he was annointed the starting LF and #3 hitter.

Ford is 24....has 251 career SBs in minors and a career .254 average. He had one good year when he hit .330.

A's fan jumping on the G's bandwagon. Got room? Another nice win today. One game out. Very exciting stuff.

Enjoy every sandwich. Win every series.

I'm just hoping the Gs can start playing loose, as the Pads are tightening up like an ATF.
