"Has Anyone Noticed The Opd Crusers"
 
Just wondering for those who travel back and forth on International blvd the OPD black and whites parked here and there and are left parked for days they are never moved to the best I can see .

I'm thinking this is a ploy to discourage crime and SWs if so this is a old ploy that was tried on SBA back in the 80s when SBA was hot back then.

   I noticed them but I think they are trying to scare off the newbies and the for the voters to think they are fighting crime.

   The one by 17th and Inty by the motel had been parked there for at least 3 days that I can remember. There's no one inside but my friend thinks it may be recording something.

I suspect if they occasionally occupy the cars with officers, it'll be enough to keep the SW's and newbies on their toes under the adage of "better safe than sorry".

Right on. I too saw them Monday eve when I was Cruising. But it is probably still effective cuz the girls and their managers do not know if the officers are around and just out of the car or if the car is just parked and empty.

   Hmmm... Late Wednesday morning when I last cruised by, there was this BSW that was looking inside the car. Once she saw it was empty, she sat down on the bus bench right in front and was flagging passing mongers (even me!!).

   Your friend is wrong. I ran into her too, a few blocks down the street and we talked about the cruiser. She told me her recording theory, but honestly, OPD can't even afford a fingerprint spec, no way can they afford to monitor from a B&W.

The ruse is only to deter johns from picking up in the area.

   You're most likely correct my friend. I was just passing the info to the RB community. At first, it sounded like something them a**holes would try to pull, but the more I thought about it, the more I came to the same conclusion as you.

   I pass on the way home every day. Damn car in front of the hotel on E14 hasn't moved in 5 days. Look on the ground by the front tire drivers side. Same damn branch has been there 5 days. It's like marking the car tires to see if the car has moved. The branch was there on Monday when I left work and it was there on Friday when I went home.

It is kinda funny but all the occupied crowns next block and the 10 at Goodwill were very NOT funny.

Hey does anyone know what OPD uses that huge van that wa parked in front of the cell phone shop is used for? It reminds me of the mobile booking stations I've seen on Chris Hanson's show.

Berkeley has a full sized city bus it has converted into a mobile sty. During the height of the crack wars, late 80-early 90s, they used to park it on our street. I watched one of the local crooks steal a cop bicycle off it as the cops sat unaware within it. Several other items were stolen from it. It was moved in an effort to reduce their costs.

I first noticed that in Fresno and I asked my brother why there are so many police cars just sitting there, he said it's to make people wonder if there's cops around or not. They want criminals to feel the police presence.

Sacramento county sheriff did that in the mid 90's at the entrance to the airport, it worked, people slowed down and accidents diminished significantly in the entrance to the airport.

But 12k for a non working police car? I don't think so

   CHP did the same many years back on the way to Tahoe. Road signs and decoys with bullet holes.

The practice was discountinued fearing a drive-by may take the real for a decoy.

It would be totally awesome if ACSO ticketed the one in front of the motel. But yeah, a half-hearted, poorly executed attempt at deception. I doubt very seriously that these cars have surveillance active. I would bet money that they're parked within reach of cameras operated by nearby businesses (hence the fact that one is parked in a bus stop), and vehicle tampering of any kind is far more trouble than it's worth. We know the scoop, that's what's important. It would be awesome to se ol' bootface standing on the hood flashing those tatas...

   I think OPD got smart and knew that they were not fooling anyone. I drve by a little while ago and both those cars are gone. But let's wait and see where'd they end up next week.

They have been using a decoy or two in Milpitas for years.
Not to deter sw's though.
They park em near the convenience stores, liquor stores and grocery stores with the highest history and/or probability of the incidence of crime.
